Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions we are asked most often.

Is BabyYouWay free?

Yes, for the essentials. With the free plan, you can create and publish your profile, search for compatible people, send contact requests every week and talk without limit once the request has been accepted.

Premium is an optional subscription. Current prices and quotas are set out on the Pricing page. No payment card is requested when you sign up.

What are the three pathways?

  • Couple project: meet someone to build a relationship with and consider having a child.
  • Co-parenting: conceive and raise a child with one or more adults, with no obligation to be in a romantic relationship.
  • Donation: only in countries where this pathway has been opened, get in touch and find your way to authorised professional organisations.

A pathway is an intention that you choose. It is never inferred from your orientation or your circumstances, and you can activate more than one. To find out more, see the Pathways page.

Who can see my profile?

Only signed-in members, and only once your profile has been approved and published. Profiles are never publicly visible or indexed by search engines.

You set the visibility of each piece of information: visible to compatible members, to your accepted contacts only, or to no one. Your date of birth stays private (only your age can appear) and your exact location is never displayed. A person you have blocked can no longer see your profile.

How are my photos moderated?

Every photo is reviewed before it becomes visible. It is first placed in a private space, its metadata (including location) is removed, and it is then analysed automatically. Ambiguous cases are reviewed by a member of our team.

If a photo is rejected, you are told the reason and you can ask for a human review. If you replace a photo that has already been approved, the old one stays on display until the new one is approved. The public text on your profile follows the same principle.

The details are set out in the moderation and appeals policy.

What do the verification badges mean?

There are three distinct badges, which do not say the same thing:

  • Photo moderated: the content of the photo has passed moderation. This says nothing about the person's identity.
  • Selfie match: a selfie taken live matches the main photo. This proves neither age nor legal identity. This verification is optional and is only offered where it is enabled.
  • Age verified (18+) or Identity and age verified (18+): the verification was carried out by a specialist provider or, failing that, through a human review.

No badge is an absolute guarantee, and none can be bought: Premium gives no advantage when it comes to verification.

How does message translation work, and what are its limits?

Translation is carried out by an AI and remains optional: nothing is sent to the translation service until you have given your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time.

  • The original message is never altered and always remains available.
  • A translation is clearly labelled as such, and you can report an incorrect translation.
  • A monthly quota applies. When it is reached, messages can still be read in their original language and the quota renews automatically.

An automatic translation can get things wrong. For anything relating to consent, health or the law, treat it as indicative: it has no contractual value.

Why is the donation pathway not available in my country?

The rules on donation, legal parenthood and assisted reproduction vary widely from one country to another. The donation pathway is therefore disabled by default: it is opened in a country only after a documented legal review. Availability depends on the countries you declare (residence and project), never on your language or your IP address.

If the pathway is not open where you are, no profile in this pathway can be viewed there. You can join the waiting list to be told if it opens.

In every case, BabyYouWay is not an offer of gametes, nor a medical service, nor a promise about legal parenthood or anonymity.

How do I report or block someone?

From a profile, a photo or a message, use the report action and choose a reason. You can block the person at the same time.

  • Blocking takes effect immediately: the person can no longer see your profile or your messages and can no longer write to you.
  • Reporting passes the content concerned to our team. Where there is a serious risk, it is removed provisionally while it is reviewed.

If you are in immediate danger, first contact the emergency services in your country (112 in the European Union).

How do I delete my account and my data?

From your privacy settings, you can export your data and then delete your account. Deletion erases your profile, your photos, your sensitive information and the content of your messages; any current subscription is cancelled.

A few items are kept for a limited period: the items of a report made against you, so that deletion cannot erase evidence of abuse, together with payment and audit data without identity. The details are set out in the privacy policy.

What does Premium add?

Premium adds comfort: more contact requests per week, more translations and automatic translation of conversations, advanced filters (timeline, mobility, involvement, values) and a view of the interest people have chosen to share with you.

Premium changes nothing when it comes to trust: no advantage for verification badges, moderation or permitted pathways. Quotas can never be bought individually and fictional examples are not part of any plan. You can cancel at any time; your benefits remain active until the end of the period paid for. See the Pricing page.

Are the "example projects" real people?

No. They are fictional scenarios, created with AI to show what you might write in a profile. Each card carries the label "Fictional example created with AI — not a registered member".

These examples cannot be contacted, never appear among members' search results and are not counted in any figure. Their number falls automatically as real profiles arrive, and nobody pays to access them.

In which languages is the service available?

The interface is offered in seven languages: French, English, Spanish, Italian, German, Dutch and Portuguese. You choose your language yourself; it is never used to guess your country or the rules that apply to you.

Some information pages may not have been translated yet: they are then displayed in another language, with a note saying so. In messages, each person writes in their own language and can switch on AI translation.
